Project Hot Seat
Project Hot Seat is turning up the heat on Congressional candidates to help stop global warming. There's a lot of bad news about global warming- but the good news is: it's not too late! We can implement solutions, but we need to act fast and we need our government to take the lead. That's why Project Hot Seat is turning up the heat on Congressional candidates in six key districts. Our aim is to create in Congress champions of global warming solutions.
Information about the Safe Climate Act
Safe Climate Weather
Leaders of the nation’s top environmental and public health organizations write to Congress, urging their support for the Safe Climate Act (H.R.1590). They lay out the obvious impacts of Global Warming, which have already begun with just a 1.4° F (0.8° C) rise in temperatures since pre-industrial times. They warn that to avoid the worst effects, we must prevent global average temperatures from rising by approximately an additional 2° F. The bill proposes a solution that will reduce total U.S. global warming emissions to 1990 levels by 2020 and to 80% below 1990 levels by 2050.
Safe Climate Summary
Summary of the Safe Climate Act of 2006, the Safe Climate Act of 2006 sets targets and requires the actions that will be necessary to avoid dangerous, irreversible warming of our planet.
