My Change It

By Meg Roy on 07.23.08

I had never been to a Change It prior to this one, so I was very unsure as to what to expect. To say the very least, I was blown away by all the passion and drive that surrounded me in the forms of staff members, speakers, trainers, student trainers, and students. The entire experience was so inspiring and renewed my energy towards the grassroots environmental movement. Throughout the entirety of Week Zero and Change It, I met a great group of students and I also got to reconnect with students I had met prior to the conference. Change It both challenged me as a trainer, and left me feeling more comfortable in the skills that I have gained over the years. It was awesome to meet fellow students of the student network and learn what drives them to make a difference in the world and learn from eachother. It was so great to see how successfully the simulation went and how pumped everyone was working on it and creating their own individual and creative campaigns. I gained so much from this experience and I’m most happy about the fact that there were so many students from my area that got to go to Change It and network with one another so when they go to do a campaign they know they have the support of people all around them. Each one of the speakers spoke on different aspects of the environmental movement, which I thought was really awesome to hear such a variety of information and advice, they were truly motivational. I made so many memories from both inside and outside the trainings with the amazing people I met at Change It that will never be forgotten! All in all I am so happy and thankful to have been able to be apart of Change It, it was an amazing experience!

Hey Meg,
It's so true!!! Changeit left me a newfound sense of urgency to get up and due something about our impact on climate change and our foul play toward the environment.

I've got to say you were creative as a trainer and really helped to guide our group to a better understanding of the material.

I'm really glad we got in touch with so many other passionate students in our area, lets put our heads together this year and really make a difference around or campuses. I look forward to making the biggest difference I can in Project Hot Seat. I hope to hear from you soon, unless I holler sooner.
